The biggest mistake is treating 8/8 as the only Ending 7 requirement.
8/8 alone does not guarantee Ending 7. Reading a Paper or picking up the Knife sends the run to Ending 6 instead.

Reach the normal final evaluation. Typical path: finish at 6-7 Interest; or finish at 8 while having read a paper or picked up the knife. Stay on the normal final route. Avoid using the Keyword, and do not enter the Knife ending branch.
Ending 7 requires all three conditions at the final normal evaluation: 8/8 Interest, you never read a Paper, and you never picked up the Knife. If you touched any paper or picked up the knife, 8/8 still falls to Ending 6 (Missing).
On the normal final route, yes. Ending 7 requires the full 8/8. 7/8 is the high-Interest Missing path. Using the Keyword or using the Knife leaves this evaluator.
Yes, if you still reach the normal final at 8/8. Reading a Paper blocks Ending 7. It does not force Ending 2 or 3 unless you actually use the Keyword.
Yes. Picking it up blocks Ending 7. If you never use it, the normal final can still happen, and an 8/8 run falls to Ending 6.
You still reach the normal evaluator. Ending 7 is blocked, so a high-Interest run can still be Ending 6. Using it instead sends you to Ending 8, 9, or 10.
Not on a save that already read a Paper or picked up the Knife. If you are only short Interest, reload before the missed +1. Paper and Knife status cannot be undone.
Stay on the normal route at 6–7 Interest. Avoid the Keyword and the Knife ending branch. You do not need a perfect 8/8 first.
Ending 4 is the lower-Interest normal ending (1–5). Missing is the high-Interest fallback, usually 6–7, or 8/8 with a Paper or Knife in the way.
You used the Knife. That leaves the normal evaluator for Ending 8, 9, or 10. Picking it up and declining to use it later can still be Missing.
